Realme has launched Realme 8 5G in India. The smartphone is the 5G variant of the Realme 8 series launched a few weeks back. Realme 8 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and offers a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone sports a triple-camera setup at the rear, along with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Realme 8 5G Specifications

Realme 8 5G draws power from a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, coupled with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The processor is backed by up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. The storage on the device can be further expanded via a microSD card up to 1TB. The smartphone comes with DRE(Dynamic RAM Expansion) that converts the storage on the device into virtual RAM to increase the performance of the device. It runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with Realme UI 2.0.

Coming to the display, the device features a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ touchscreen display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display has an aspect ratio 0f 20:9, 600 nits of peak brightness, and is protected by Dragontrail Glass. The display also carries a punch-hole at the top left corner for the front camera.

As for the cameras, the phone sports a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 48MP Samsung GM1 primary camera with an f/1.8 lens and two 2MP sensors with f/2.4 aperture for monochrome and macro shots. Upfront, a 16MP sensor is placed under the punch-hole for selfies and video calls. the front camera is able to capture nightscape pictures as well as the rear setup.

The mobile phone packs a 5,000mAh battery with 18W Quick Charge fast-charging technology. It ships with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometrics. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack. The device weighs 185 grams.

Realme 8 5G Price

Realme 8 5G will be offered in two color options- Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue. It is priced at Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant and the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage is priced at Rs. 16,999 in India. The device will go on sale from April 28 on Flipkart, Realme.com, and offline retail stores.

Alternative

Considering the price range and 5G connectivity, it will rival Realme Narzo 30 Pro, which is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, features a 120Hz IPS LCD panel, a 48MP triple-camera setup, and a 5,000mAh battery with Dart Charging, priced at Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. It will be an interesting rivalry between the two cousin smartphones.
