Realme announced its upcoming camera-centered smartphone Realme 8 series with a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor and other exciting features. This series will be the successor of last year’s Realme 7 series. Through the virtual event, the company also revealed the design of the upcoming smartphone series.
On Tuesday, Realme, through Realme Camera Innovation Event 2021, announced the Realme 8 series and also revealed the 108MP primary Samsung HM2 sensor. The design of Realme 8 Pro was also revealed. It has a quad-camera set up at the rear with a pill-shaped LED flash and the “Dare to Leap” tagline is etched at the back. The variant revealed at the event was gradient blue, however, it is expected that the smartphone will be offered in other color options also.
The key highlight of the event was amazing and exciting camera features going to be featured in the upcoming Realme 8 series.

The 108MP ISOCELL HM2 sensor from Samsung is known for well-balanced overall exposure in extra light and dark areas. The sensor features smart-ISO control that improves the image quality in extra light conditions and a 9-in-1 pixel binning and large 1/1.52″ sensor improves the camera performance in extreme low light conditions. The Realme 8 Pro is capable to record 4K videos at 120fps.

Realme 8 Pro also offers trendy portrait filters- Neon Portrait, Dynamic Bokeh Portrait, and AI Color Portrait. The company claimed that these features are intended to target the younger audience.

Through the event, Realme announced the updated starry mode that makes time-lapse videos. The company claims that the updated starry mode produces better time-lapse videos in low-light conditions. This software takes 480 seconds to click 30 pictures and generates a 1-second time-lapse video.

Realme also offers a new tilt-shift photography feature in Realme 8 Pro, which features pre-loaded algorithms that will the users to capture tilt-shift photos and 10x faster tilt-shift time-lapse videos.
The Realme 8 Pro will be the world’s first smartphone to feature tilt-shift time-lapse. This feature also allows the user to adjust the shape, angle, position, and size of the bokeh effect. The transition between the bokeh area and clear area can be adjusted with this feature.

The Realme 8 Pro also features 3x digital zoom and claims to perform better because of the In-Sensor Zoom technology. What the sensor does is that it trims a 108MP image into a 12MP image, which makes it faster to process, then the sensor clicks eight 12MP images and arranges them in a row to improve the clarity and then applies the clarity enhancement algorithm to further increase the sharpness of the image.
There has been no clarification from the firm, however, it is expected that the Realme 8 series will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset paired with 6GB RAM and carry a 4,500mAh battery. The front camera is expected to be 32MP placed in a hole-punch at the top left corner of the 6.4-inch AMOLED display.
The smartphones are expected to be released later this month, but, we have to wait for the official statement from the company regarding the launch event.
