Realme for the first time showed us glimpses of its 64MP quad-camera design back in June. We never got an official date as to when this design will be fully made available to everyone but now August 8 has been announced as the official launch date of Realme’s quad-camera smartphone at a “Camera Innovation Event” in the Indian capital New Delhi.

“We are taking a leap in smartphone camera on 8th August and we are doing it here in India. Get ready as we unveil the world’s first 64MP Quad Camera on a smartphone at our camera innovation event. And this is among the first surprise of the season. Stay Tuned,” said Realme Mobiles CEO Madhav Sheth in a tweet.

Realme’s upcoming smartphone features a 64 MP camera which was originally launched by Samsung Semiconductors back in May this year. ISOCELL GW1 sensor was introduced in May alongside 48Mp ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor. The ISOCELL Bright GW1 features the highest resolution in Samsung’s 0.8μm-pixel image sensor lineup. If we are to believe Samsung then they claim the sensor to be bagged with pixel-merging Tetracell technology and an algorithm that enables the production of 16MP images in low-light environments and “highly-detailed” 64MP shots in brighter settings.

This new sensor has quite fascinating features as we know from last month’s tweet from Realme CEO Madhav Sheth.

However, we aren’t still clear with what exactly other camera senors present do. But if we are to guess, besides the primary 64-megapixel wide-angle lens, we could also see a telephoto lens; an ultra-wide-angle lens; and probably a ToF camera.

Well, just a week more left for the quad-camera to launch and then we will get to know if the quad-camera has lived up to the hype.
