Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing announced back in February 2019 that the company is working on a device with Snapdragon 855 processor, and ever since there have been a number of leaks and rumors. However, none of those rumors or leaks managed to detail most of the key specifications of the device. Now, courtesy of a tipster, an alleged list of the Redmi flagship smartphone has surfaced online. According to the listing, the smartphone will feature 8GB of RAM, 128GB of onboard storage, and a 32-megapixel selfie camera.
The tipster took on Weibo to reveal that the Redmi flagship smartphone will feature a 6.39-inch full HD+ display with 1080×2340 resolution. It is said to come with a triple camera module compromising of a 48-megapixel primary sensor, 8-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 13-megapixel sensor. It is not clear which of these sensors would be accompanied by an ultra-wide, wide-angle, or telephoto lens.
The tipster also notes that the phone will come with a 32-megapixel camera at the front. In terms of RAM and storage configuration, the smartphone will come with 8GB RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The tipster detail the presence of a microSD card slot. Other specifications of the smartphone including its battery still remain unknown. The operating system could be safely assumed to be MIUI 10 on top of Android 9.0 Pie.
The name, availability, and pricing of the smartphone have not been revealed yet. The 855-powered phone was confirmed to be under development by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun and Redmi General Manager Weibing.
Earlier this month, a leaked photo of the device surfaced online showcasing the alleged Redmi smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera and red paint job. The device was spotted in an image with Xiaomi chief Lei Jun, and it was also reported back then that the upcoming flagship Redmi device will feature a pop-up selfie camera and an edge-to-edge display.
The new image of the alleged Redmi device surfaced online on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, showcasing the smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera with antenna bans on either side of it, suggesting a metal build. The device can be seen rocking Red color and bears some similarities with the smartphone that was spotted recently with the Xiaomi CEO.
