Xiaomi has unveiled Redmi K40 Gaming Edition in China. The smartphone comes with gaming intended features like shoulder buttons, multiple mics, and more. The device draws power from a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. The phone comes with multiple RAM and storage configurations.

Xiaomi Redmi K40 Gaming Edition Specifications

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1200 octa-core 5G chipset, coupled with up to 12GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The smartphone runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 12.5 on top.

Coming to the display, the device features a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display has a 480Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, 100-percent DCI-P3 coverage, and 10-bit colors. It also carries a punch-hole at the center for the front camera.

As for imaging, the phone sports a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.65 lens, an 8MP sensor for ultra-wide-angle shots, and a 2MP sensor for macro shots. Upfront, a 16MP sensor is placed under the notch for selfies and video calls.

The mobile phone carries a 5,065mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. It ships with IP53 certification for dust and water resistance and the dual-stereo speakers have been tuned by JBL. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric.

The gaming-centric smartphone comes with shoulder buttons that can be mapped to be used as gaming triggers. At the rear, the rim of the camera module features ambient light that lightens up for notifications. For heat management, the phone features vapor chamber LiquidCool technology with a white graphene layer, which not only improves the heat dissipation but also reduces the impact of heat on the nearby antennas.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and an L-shaped USB Type-C port for charging. It weighs 205 grams.

Xiaomi Redmi K40 Gaming Edition Price

Redmi K40 Gaming Edition comes in three color options- Black, Silver, White, and a Bruce Lee Special Edition. It starts from CNY 1,999 (Rs. 23,000) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, the 8GB RAM+ 128GB configuration is priced at CNY 2,199 (Rs. 25,300), the 8GB RAM+ 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 2,399 (Rs. 27,600), the 12GB RAM + 128GB storage variant costs CNY 2,399(Rs. 27,600), and finally the top-of-the-line 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 2,699 (Rs. 31,100). 

The Bruce Lee Special Edition is available only in 12GB RAM + 256GB storage configuration and is priced at CNY 2,799 (Rs. 32,300).

The smartphones will be up for pre-booking from April 30 in China. The international availability of smartphones is yet to be revealed by the company.

Considering the gaming nature of the smartphone, it will rival Nubia Red Magic 6, which is powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC and features a 165Hz AMOLED display, a 64MP triple-camera setup, advanced cooling tech, and a 5,050mAh battery with 66W fast charging, starts from CNY 3,799 (Rs. 42,700) in China.
