Xiaomi recently launched its much-awaited Redmi K40 series in China. The series comprises three smartphones: Redmi K40, Redmi K40 Pro, and Redmi K40 Pro+. This series is the successor to last year’s Redmi K30 Series.

All the devices sport a similar design, however, they are a bit different on the software front. K40 series features SD 800 series SoCs. The devices feature a triple-camera set up at the rear and a punch-hole front camera.

Redmi K40 Specifications

Redmi K40 features a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED FHD+ display with a resolution of 1,080×2,400 pixels, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch response, and 20:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 octa-core processor, which supports 5G connectivity.

The smartphone runs on Android 11 with MIUI 12 on top. The device offers four variants in terms of RAM and internal storage as 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB, and 12GB+256GB.

The device sports a triple-camera set up at the rear with a 48MP Sony IMX582 primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 5MP macro lens. On the front, the device sports a punch-hole set up with a 20MP sensor.

The AMOLED display supports an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device comes with a 4,520mAh battery and supports 33W fast-charging. The device weighs 196 grams.

The Redmi K40 is priced at CNY 1,999 ( Rs. 22,500) for 6GB RAM + 128GB variant, while its 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model is priced at CNY 2,199 (Rs. 24,700), 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option at CNY 2,499 (Rs. 28,000), and the top-end 12GB RAM + 256GB storage model at CNY 2,699 (Rs. 30,400). Three colour variants are offered as Dreamland, Icy White, and Glossy Black colours.

This segment of the smartphone market is flooded with options, however, K40 supports 5G that puts it ahead of a lot of devices. The biggest competitor for Redmi K40 will be Realme X7 Pro with almost similar features.

Redmi K40 Pro Specifications

The Redmi K40 Pro model is powered by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with Adreno 660 GPU. The phone offers three variants in terms of RAM and storage: 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB, and 8GB+256GB.

The display panel offered in Redmi K40 Pro is a 6.67-inch full-HD+ 1,080×2,400 pixels resolution E4 AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. A 4,520mAh battery is offered with 33W fast-charging support.

On the camera front, the device features a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP Sony IMX686 primary sensor, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 5MP sensor for macro. A 20MP front camera is present in a punch-hole in the display. The device runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with MIUI 12 on top of it.

Redmi K40 is priced at CNY 2,799 (Rs. 31,500) for the 6GB + 128GB variant. The 8GB RAM + 128GB variant is available in China at CNY 2,999 (Rs. 33,800), and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage at CNY 3,299 (Rs. 37,000). It is also offered in same three colour variants as Redmi K40.

Redmi K40 Pro+ Specifications

The top-end version Redmi K40 Pro+ features a 108MP Samsung HM2 primary camera along with 8MP wide-angle lens and 5MP macro lens. All other features match with that of Redmi K40, except the fact that Redmi K40 Pro+ is offered in only one RAM and internal storage variant i.e., 12GB+256GB.

The flagship device is launched at CNY 3,699 (Rs. 41,600). The device is offered in the same three colour variants.

Redmi K40 and K40 Pro will be available in China from March 4 and the top-end K40 Pro+ will be available towards the end of March. There has been no statement from Xiaomi regarding the global launch.

It is also rumored that the lower model of the K40 series, Redmi K40, will be rebranded as the next device from Poco as F2 or F3. However, there is no further information regarding this.
