US tech company Roku has launched two new products in the media streaming niche.
The Roku Ultra 2020 and Roku Streambar are the two new devices launched by Roku. Along with that, they have also launched a new mobile app.
Roku Ultra 2020
Roku Ultra 2020 is a streaming device. It comes with Dolby Vision, better Wi-Fi, and support for AV1 codec. The latest Ultra comes equipped with a quad-core processor as well as support for Alexa and Google Assistant. It also comes with a remote which has a headphone jack. There’s also a remote finder function in case the remote gets misplaced.
The Roku Ultra is priced at $99 and is currently available for pre-order. Shipping starts from October 15, 2020.
The Roku Streambar is a 2-in-1 device that is a streaming device and a stream bar. The device is a 14-inch Soundbar that also supports outputting 4K HDR video. You will get access to all the services which are provided by Roku like Netflix, HBO, Prime Video, etc.
It connects to your TV via HDMI ARC or optical audio. The device also comes with a USB port, allowing users to connect a portable hard drive and play content locally. One interesting feature of the Streambar is that it mutes the commercials that are too loud.
This device is priced at $129.99 and is available for pre-order. Shipping starts mid-October.
These were the hardware devices. A new software update has been rolled by Roku for its OS. According to Roku, the latest software update will provide users with new ways to access content quickly and feature a range of performance enhancements.
After this update, Roku users will be able to access the Live TV guide directly from the home screen. The update has added support dor AirPlay2 and Homekit. As said above Roku has also launched a new mobile app for IOS and Android. Users will get free content available on Roku on this app in the U.S.
