Samsung has dropped prices on its Galaxy A7(2018) and A9(2018) models in India. As the new prices come into effect, the Galaxy A7 is now available at a starting price of ₹18,990 while the Galaxy A9 is available at a starting price of ₹33,990.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A7 in September as its first phone to have a triple camera setup, while the Galaxy A9 was introduced in November as the first quadruple-camera smartphone from Samsung. The price cuts were first reported by an established Mumbai-based seller.
The original price on the Samsung Galaxy A7, at the time of launch, was ₹23,990 for the 4GB RAM/64GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant was priced at ₹28,990 at the time of launch. The prices have been lowered to ₹18,990 and ₹22,990 respectively.
The Galaxy A9, on the other hand, came in two variants; 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GBRAM/128GB storage variant. The 6GB RAM variant was originally priced at ₹36,990 which has been cut down to ₹33,990. The 8GB RAM variant was priced at ₹39,990 which has been reduced to ₹36,990.
The latest prices were first revealed by Mumbai-based Mahesh Telecom. Mahesh Telecom posted a tweet on Twitter revealing the new prices on the Galaxy phones.
While Amazon has already listed the A7 and the A9 under new prices, other e-commerce websites like Flipkart and Samsung India e-Store are still to follow pursuit.
The Samsung Galaxy A7 runs on Samsung’s custom Experience UI based on Android Oreo 8.0. The device comes with 6-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by octa-core Exynos 7885 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 4GB and 6GB RAM variants.
In terms of optics, the phone comes with a triple camera set up at the back including a 24-megapixel primary sensor(f/1.7), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor(f/2.4), and 5-megapixel depth sensor(f/2.2). At the front, the phone has a single 24-megapixel fixed focus sensor for selfies.
The Galaxy A9 runs on Samsung’s Experience UI based on Android Oreo 8.0. The phone comes with a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with 6GB and 8GB of RAM, depending on the variant.
The A9 comes in with a quad-camera at the back and the set up includes a 24-megapixel primary sensor(f/1.7), a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom(f/2.4), an 8-megapixel ultra-wide(f/2.4), and a 5-megapixel depth sensor(f/2.2). At the front, the phone comes with a 24-megapixel camera for selfies.
