Samsung recently launched the new flagship Galaxy S21 series that has a powerful new chipset which is the Exynos 2100. Reports now say that the processors of the company might also be headed to personal computers in the future.

A report of Wccftech says that the phone manufacturer that switched to the 5nm fabrication process with Exynos 2100 might soon bring the processor to other devices like desktop computers. The company has been already supplying chips to manufacturers like Motorola and so the likelihood of ARM-based chips in computers similar to the M1 processor of Apple is not a far-fetched ideas.

Previously, it has been reported that Samsung may release the next generation of the Exynos processors minus the Mali GPUs and rather adopt an AMD manufactured GPU instead. The move can actually give Qualcomm a run for money because the Mali chip is at present the only component in Exynos 2100 holding it back behind Snapdragon 888’s Adreno 660 GPU.

Having more number of ARM processors at the market is surely a good thing for consumers because it will likely drive down the costs and keep manufacturers inventing for enhanced performance and features. The M1 chips of Apple already provides 15 to 18 hours of battery life, enhanced processing power and other security enhancements. The Knox features of Samsung might also prove to be an advantage for the company if Exynos 2100 can make it to the devices being used for work.

The launch of Exynos 2100 was covered well last week and it was noticed that the new 5nm chipset has been a significant upgrade over the previous 7nm Exynos 990 and brings up to 10% higher performance and using 20% less power. It has an integrated 5G modem which supports downlink speeds of 5.1 Gbps on sub-6GHz 5G networks and 7.35 Gbps on mmWave 5G networks.
