Samsung Galaxy Fold

Samsung released its foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold at MWC earlier this week and now the company is looking forward to bringing the device in the Indian market news agency IANS reported quoting DJ Koh, President, and CEO of IT and Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. Koh made the announcement while interacting with media at Galaxy S10 launch event.

“Indian market is, I clearly said, most important market — not only investment and everything, my long-term commitment is towards the market. In this market, why will I not deliver my newest technology innovation? Yes, I will do,” Koh said while confirming Galaxy Fold India launch plans, as reported by Gadget360.

He did not, however, shared any specific date as to the launch of the device in India. but based on his comments, the Galaxy Fold India launch should happen in line with other major markets.

Koh also acknowledged that Samsung would want to manufacture its devices in India in order to keep the cost low. “Because of taxes, we must make it in India, to sell in India,” he added. Nevertheless, it is unlikely that the device will carry the “Made in India” tag when it eventually comes to the country.

Koh said that Samsung would like to consolidate manufacturing at one place, which seems ideal given the limited quantities of Galaxy Fold that are likely to go up for sale. Koh also hinted that the Galaxy S10 5G could be launched in India when the country is ready with the technology, notes the report.

In terms of specifications, the company revealed that the Samsung Fold is powered by a 7nm processor, the name of which was not disclosed. It is likely that Samsung will go with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC for its foldable phone. The 7.3-inch Infinity Flex Dynamic AMOLED panel boasts of a resolution of  1536×2152 pixels (4.2:3), whereas the smaller 4.6-inch Super AMOLED panel includes 840×1960 pixels resolution (21:9). The smartphone also features 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage which is not expandable. Samsung has included two batteries that are placed on the side of the phone combining a total capacity of 4,380mAh.
