Samsung Infinity Displays

Samsung India is planning to launch its M series in January 2019 with an infinity V notch display, according to reports. It has been confirmed that the new M series will sport a notch. This is quite surprising considering how Samsung has always been openly mocking the notched display. Samsung even made a series of advertisements in which they make fun of Apple for starting the “notch trend”.

Sumit Wali, the director at Mobile Marketing of Samsung India had told The Indian Express how a notched display abrupts video watching experience and therefore they had decided to go against it.

However, with the Galaxy M series, things are about to change for Samsung. The M series compromises of 3 phone-M10, M20, and M30, all of which are powered by Samsung’s Exynos processor. Earlier a support page was surfaced on the Indian website of Samsung where it was mentioned that the Galaxy M10 will be a dual-sim phone. Although the support page did not reveal anything else, there have been plenty of leaks that confirm various features of the phones.

According to the leaks, the Galaxy M10 will sport a 6.5-inch display. The device will be powered by Samsung’s own processor Exynos 7870 coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16/32GB internal storage. M10 will run on Android 8.1 Oreo and will be fueled by 3,400 mAh battery. The cameras on M10 will have a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Galaxy M20 will sport a 19.5:9 screen to body aspect ratio. Powered by Exynos 7885 coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32/64GB ROM, M20 will run on Samsung’s custom Experience UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

Lastly, the Galaxy M30 will be similar to the M20 in terms of display, screen to body ratio, and processor. However, M30 will pair Exynos 7885 with 4GB of RAM.

With the M series, Samsung could be looking to replace the online-exclusive Galaxy On series. Considering how Samsung has struggled in India to acquire the low-budget market against Xiaomi, the M series might be a notable advancement from the company.
