Sony Xperia 1 is likely to debut as the next flagship smartphone from Sony. The company might be going with the new moniker for its smartphone that was previously reported as Xperia XZ4. Ahead of the official confirmation, a press render of the device surfaced online. The new model resembles what was seen on the Xperia XZ4 and shows a triple camera module at the back. The Xperia 1 is expected to release at MWC 2019, which kicks-off from tomorrow.
Prominent leakster Eval Blass, who posts unannounced developments on various companies using the Twitter handle @evleaks, has posted a picture showing a new Sony device that would be launched as Xperia 1. The render also shows that the phone will feature a triple camera module accompanied by an LED flash. The back panel of the device also suggests NFC support.

As the photo suggests, the Xperia 1 comes encased in a metal body and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Notably, the fingerprint scanner, unlike other Xperia models, is not placed on to of the power button but is placed between volume rocker and power button. The phone also retains a physical camera shutter button.
The leaked model seems to be the smartphone that was previously termed as the Xperia XZ4. Further, it is likely to be the successor to the Xperia XZ3, which was launched last year.
Some of the reports claim that the new flagship smartphone from Sony will have a 21:9 display and will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC coupled with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The new model is said to run Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box with a new custom skin on top.
Blass also revealed through his Twitter handle that the Xperia 1 will 4K HDR OLED panel, suggesting that the new Sony phone will fall into the premium smartphone segment.
Besides Xperia 1, Sony is expected to release the Xperia XA3 and the Xperia L3 at MWC 2019. The company will be hosting its MWC event on February 25.
