Vivo Apex

A week ago we reported about Vivo working on a seemingly notch-less device which was termed as ‘crazy phone’ in the leaked images. Now, the Chinese manufacturer has actually revealed the name of its upcoming device. Vivo published a poster on Friday and disclosed that the device is gonna be called Apex 2019. The company is expected to release the device on January 24. However, no other details were shared by the company about this device. We know from previous leaks that the phone is being manufactured under the codename ‘Waterdrop’, apart from this everything about this phone is a mystery. However, the device is speculated to be made out of liquid glass metal.

Vivo uploaded the poster on Weibo and it reveals a smartphone with water ripples and rounded corners, as the rumors speculated. The tagline on the poster reads “to simple future” and is accompanied by texts saying Apex 2019 will be using technology “to wake up to the future.” The tagline and the accompanying text don’t reveal much except for the fact that the device will be coming with a unique design and innovative technology to back it up. Notably, the Vivo Apex which was showcased at the Mobile World Congress last year came with an in-display fingerprint sensor and an almost bezel-less design, however, the commercial version of that phone was launched under the name Vivo Nex featuring a pop-up camera design.

As per the leaks that have surfaced so far, the Vivo Apex 2019 will have a seamless design with no physical buttons. A tipster named IceUniverse had leaked some partial photos of the device on Twitter a week ago and had mentioned that this upcoming device from Vivo will have a design that “is the first time in the history of mobile phones.”
