Xiaomi Black Shark 4

Black Shark 4 series- Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 4 Pro, has been launched in China. This series is the successor to the Black Shark 3 series and features considerable upgrades. Both smartphones feature a 144Hz refresh rate display. The top-end Black Shark 4 Pro is based on Snapdragon 888 SoC. The company has also launched accessories for the particular model.

Black Shark 4 Specifications

The Black Shark 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset paired with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The device runs on Android 11 out-of-the-box with custom JoyUI 12.5 on top.

The device sports a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Samsung E4 AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,440 and a 144Hz refresh rate. The display has a 720Hz of the touch sampling rate. The front display also has a punch-hole cutout at the center for the front camera.

As for the cameras, Black Shark 4 sports a triple-camera setup a the rear with a 48MP primary sensor, an 8MP sensor with f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, and a 5MP sensor with an f/2.4 macro lens. At the front, a 20MP sensor with an f/2.45 aperture selfie snapper is placed under the cutout.

The smartphone carries a 4,500mAh battery with 120W fast-charging. During the launch event, the company showed that the 120W fast-charger can fully charge the device in 14 minutes 50 seconds. That is fast!

The device features a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual speakers, and a lightning effect at the rear. The phone also sports pressure-sensitive shoulder buttons that can differentiate between a light tap and a hard press, which the user can map for different functions. The device weighs 210 grams.

The Black Shark 4 is offered in three color variants- Ink Sea Black, Lingguang Gray, and Magic Mirror Black. The device is priced at CNY 2,499 (Rs. 27,700) for the 6GB + 128GB storage variant, the 8GB + 128GB storage model can be purchased for CNY 2,699 (Rs. 30,000), and the 12GB + 128GB storage variant priced at CNY 2,999 (Rs. 33,300) while the top-end variant with 12GB + 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 3,299 (Rs. 36,600). It will hit the market from March 25 in China.

Considering the price range, it will compete with Realme X50 Pro 5G, which is powered by Snapdragon 865 processor and features a 90Hz AMOLED panel.

Black Shark 4 Pro Specifications

The top-end Black Shark 4 Pro shares the same OS, battery, and display as the vanilla Black Shark 4. However, the Black Shark 4 Pro is powered by a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

As far as the camera is concerned, the pro variant features a triple-camera setup at the rear with a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.79 lens, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 5MP sensor for macro shots. The device features a similar 20MP selfie shooter under the punch-hole on the front display.

Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Pro

The pro variant features a two-layer liquid cooling system to handle the extra heat. Xiaomi claims that this technology will increase heat dissipation by 30%. The pro also ships with the Xiaomi RAMDISK feature, which allows the RAM to be used as storage, thus, boosting the performance of the app.

The device is offered in two color options- Sea Black and Suikong Black. Black Shark 4 Pro is priced at CNY 3,999 (Rs. 44,400) for the base 8GB + 256GB storage variant, the 12GB + 256GB storage variant is priced at CNY 4,499 (Rs. 50,000), and the 16GB + 512GB storage model can be purchased for CNY 5,299 (Rs. 58,800). The device will go on sale from March 25 along with the vanilla variant.

Considering the gaming nature of the smartphones, they will compete with Nubia Red Magic 6 series, which was launched in China a few weeks back. The Red Magic 6 series features 165Hz refresh rate AMOLED panels, powered by Snapdragon 888 SoC, and advanced cooling tech. It will be an interesting rivalry between the two game-centric smartphones.

Black Shark has also revealed certain accessories. First up are the Black Shark 3.5mm in-ear gaming earphones (Standard costs CNY 149 and the pro variant costs CNY 249). The company also launched Black Shark Cooling Back Clip 2 Pro(costs CNY 199) and Black Shark 20,000mAh power bank(CNY 159).
