Black Shark Helo

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro in India on Thursday with a starting price of ₹9,999. Now it looks like Xiaomi has other plans with India as well. The company is expected to launch its gaming-centric Black Shark smartphone in India, which will complement the mobile gaming experience in the country.

Black Shark, which is a Shenzhen-based gaming smartphone manufacturer, has confirmed that it will be setting up its operations in India. Xiaomi confirmed this information on Thursday soon after the launch of the Redmi Note 7 in India by sending a press invite. Black Shark will be setting up its operations in Bengaluru, which is the place of choice for Xiaomi as well, and will be headed by David Li, who’s the VP of Black Shark Global. Li is said to be managing the overall operations in India for the Black Shark gaming phone.

According to reports, ex-OnePlus communications head, Chirag Nagendra will also be a part of the Black Shark team. Nagendra will be responsible for brand building and marketing strategy and will hold the position of the company’s India Market Head.

In the press release sent to media, Black Shark wrote A Big “Hello” to you from Black Shark and it’s India Team!” This could be a hint to the launch of the Black Shark Helo as the company’s first smartphone in India. Black Shark Helo was first launched in October 2018. As for the specifications, the device features a 6-inch AMOLED display with full-HD+ 1,080 x 2,160 pixels resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with up to 10GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

On the camera front, the Black Shark Helo features a dual camera setup compromising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. The phone houses a 24-megapixel selfie shooter at the front. It is backed up by a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support and the device runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.

The press release also mentioned that Black Shark will announce the official launch date of the company along with its first smartphone later this year. The company is also expected to bring gaming accessories along with the smartphone in India.
