Xiaomi mobiles

Xiaomi recently tweeted that it has engaged in deducting the plastic packaging in their devices by 60%, starting from Europe. And Xiaomi Mi 10T Lite is the first phone to begin the initiative.

Note that the company is applying this to just the retail box and not its contents, which means you still will get all the accessories. Which comprises the case, the charger and a USB-C cable. The Mi 10 Lite which launched earlier this year got the same number of accessories in its box.

Regardless, if you read the Xiaomi company’s tweet, It is an indirect poke at Apple, which recently removed the charger and headset to reduce the weight of the retail boxes bringing up the environmental reasons. But as the box is major of cardboard, it’s still not sure about how much plastic is being reduced here.

As it has been seen before also. Opponent companies lined up earlier to mock Apple when they decided to remove their 3.5 mm headphone jack. While later they did it themselves so will it repeat?

Though there are almost nil chances of it happening again. As it is difficult for the flagships like Xiaomi to remove the in-box charger. But for phones like iPhone 12, you need 20W USB Power Delivery adapters which are quite common. Also, it is very hard to 100W & 80W wireless to come by. Which might be the major selling points for Mi phones in the future.

Still, you can buy My 10T lite at €250 for its 6/64 GB model. The shipping for the Rose Gold variant will start from tomorrow.
