Apple dominates the global tablet market with its feature-packed iPad and iPad Pro models. Android tablets just couldn’t stand up against the iPads, except for some manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei. With Huawei facing bans from several entities, OEMs(Original Equipment Manufacturers) are trying the take the spot by bringing new devices now and then.

Xiaomi has been out of the tablet business for a while now. The Chinese firm released a tablet back in mid-2018. However, reports suggest that Xiaomi is currently developing the next generation of tablets to expand its portfolio even further. The rumored tablets are expected to be the Mi Pad 5 series. The series has three models.

As per the leak, the model numbers of the tablet are K81, K81A, and K82 with codenames “ENUMA”, “ELISH”, and “NABU” respectively. The leaks reveal that the upcoming tablet series will be powered by Snapdragon 8-series processors. Mi Tablet K81 and K81A will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 870G 5G chipset, while the Mi Tablet K82 will be powered by Snapdragon 860 SoC.

The entire Mi Pad line-up will feature a similar 11-inch 2K IPS display with a resolution of 2,560 x 800 pixels. The display could feature a 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 410 nits.

As for the cameras, it is rumored that all the models could feature a quad-camera setup at the rear. The top-end Mi Tablet K81 might arrive with a 48MP as the primary camera, on the other hand, the other two tablets, K81A and K82, will feature a 12MP primary sensor. The other sensors will be for ultra-wide angle shots, depth sensors, and macro shots.

The tweet also reveals that the rumored tablet series could feature NFC connectivity, quad speakers (as seen on Mi Mix Fold), wireless charging support, dual-cell battery with 120W-135W ultra-fast charging.

The tablet with the codename “NABU” seems to be the most affordable among the upcoming tablets. The tablet might carry a massive 12,400mAh battery, in addition to a front camera without OIS support.

These tablets might launch under the Mi Pad line-up and are expected to run on Android 11-based custom MIUI. It is speculated that the tablets may also arrive with support for stylus pen and keyboard. We can expect Xiaomi to launch the devices as soon as the end of May. However, these are leaks and should be taken with a pinch of salt. We have to wait for the official statement from the firm.
