Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Xiaomi has launched the world’s first commercially available 5G-ready smartphone at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

Xiaomi was rumored to be working on a 5G enabled smartphone and the Chinese tech giant has launched a 5G-ready version of the Mi Mix 3 smartphone. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was announced in October last year and the 5G variant of the device is similar to the original with an exception of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor with Snapdragon X50 modem.

Xiaomi has confirmed that the phone will be available right away, with sales beginning in May 2018. Xiamoi has priced the device at EUR 599 (₹48281 roughly). The pricing of the phone, not unlike other Xiaomi devices, is aggressive. Nevertheless, we don’t have any other 5G phones in the market yet to draw a comparison.

The RAM and storage capability of the Mi Mix 3 5G has not been revealed yet.

In terms of specification, the Mi Mix 3 comes with a 6.39-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 2,340 x 1,080 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Given that the Mi Mix 3 is a slider phone, the display on the device runs edge to edge with an exception of bezels or notches.

The device comes with a dual-camera setup at the back with 12 MP + 12 MP AI enabled camera, the primary lens of which sporting a wide-angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture and the secondary a telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture.

At the front, the device houses dual cameras with a 24+2-megapixel setup. The second camera is used for delivering bokeh images in Portrait mode.

The Mi Mix 3 5G supports QuickCharge 4 Plus and is backed up by a 3,800mAh battery.

In addition to the Mi Mix 3 5G, Xiaomi also announced the global launch of the Mi 9 at its pre-MWC conference. The flagship device from Xiaomi was unveiled in China earlier this week with a triple rear camera setup fifth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor, 90.7-percent screen-to-body ratio, and 20W wireless charging support.
