Redmi Note 7

Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi Note 7 in India. After weeks of speculations and tease, the company has launched the device at an event in New Delhi. The Redmi Note 7 was introduced in China last month as the first smartphone from Redmi after its split-off with Xiaomi. Notably, Xiaomi has made some changes to the Indian variant of the Note 7 by foregoing the 48-megapixel camera that the device gained popularity for.

Xiaomi is betting with the launch of the Redmi Note 7 in India and the company had been teasing the impending launch for weeks now.  Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India MD, was reported claiming that the Redmi Note 7 will be a “game changer device.”

Note 7 comes in two variants in terms of RAM and storage: 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. The 3GB/32GB variant of the device is priced at ₹9,999 while the 4GB/64GB variant carries a price tag of ₹11,999. According to the company, it will be offering the Redmi Note 7 in three color options – Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue.

The Note 7 will be available through a flash sale on March 6 at 12 pm IST via Mi.com, Flipkart, and Mi Home stores. The device will be available in select offline retail stores “soon”. The device will come bundled with an “ultra-slim” while the perforated case will be available for ₹349. As a part of the launch offer, Airtel will be offering up to 1,120GB with unlimited calling, as well as Airtel Thanks benefits.

IN terms of specifications, the Redmi Note 7 features a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, Gorilla Glass 5, and waterdrop-style notch. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The storage on the device is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card. The device is backed up by a 4000mAh battery and includes Quick Charge 4.0 support, rear fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, and dual-SIM support (hybrid). In terms of the connectivity options, the Redmi Note 7 comes with Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and Infrared.

At the camera front, the device packs a dual camera setup at the back compromising of a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary depth sensor. Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 in China with a 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM-1 sensor and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The phone retains the 13-megapixel front camera that the Chinese variant had.

Redmi Note 7 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10 on top.

Redemi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro are going to be a very important smartphone for Xiaomi as the company is looking to take over Samsung’s M-series with the devices.
