Betting on IPL 2020 matches continues with same enthusiasm and passion that was put in when the tournament started around a month ago.
The police across the country have also been arresting gamblers, bookies and punters with same rigour.
This time, 7 people each were arrested from Jaipur and Hyderabad for betting on IPL 2020 matches.
The police recovered mobile phones, laptops, TV and cash from the possession of the accused persons.
Ashok Kumar Rathore, ADG, Anti-Terrorism Squad, Rajasthan stated that, “Based on the information, raids were conducted in five locations at the same time across Hyderabad, New Delhi, Jaipur and Nagaur in connection with illegal betting on the cricket matches being played at IPL, 2020. Our teams earlier found out about how people from our state had gone to other states hiding their identity and how they have been involved in betting”, reported Gambling Insider.
In another event, 7 people including 6 women were arrested for gambling in Ajmer. The Police raided G Block of Vaishali Nagar and apprehended 7 persons for gambling. The police seized token that were worth atleast 37,000 Rupees and also recovered Rupees 13,650 in cash.
The alleged accused persons were identified as Rukmani, 48, Neetu, 57, Sangeeta, 52, Nanki,50, Sona, 49, Maya, 45, and Sunny, 33, reported Times of India (October 12, 2020).
