Delhi Police raided a location on Friday, October 9, 2020 and arrested 17 people for allegedly betting on IPL 2020 matches.

The police raided Devli Village in South Delhi and found these 17 people betting on an IPL match between Delhi Capitals (DC) versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) late night.

Interestingly, the bookies were found gambling through several methods such as charts and playing cards. The betting module used six sets of walkie-talkies to communicate and keep a tab on the movement of police.

Police seized cash worth Rupees 81,000, TV Sets, 10 decks of playing cards, gambling chits and charts from the possession of the accused persons.

DCP South Delhi Atul Thakur said, “Three persons were tasked to check the scores of cricket matches and inform betters for revising rates of betting, while others were into gambling and betting through various other means”, Times Now News reported.

Police has registered a case under various provisions of the Delhi Public Gambling Act, 1955 and is conducting further investigation.
