On the advice of Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU), the ATP tour had banned men’s tournaments from getting sponsorship from gambling operators. The TIU had advised so on the basis of strings of match fixing incidents brought to light from the year 2018.

Recently, TIU has been dealing strictly with the suspects involved in match fixing.

However, now the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) believes that enough has been done to combat the illegal match fixing activities in the game of tennis. Therefore, the ATP tour has lifted the ban from getting sponsorship from gambling operators.

According to SBC News, ATP Tour Director Eddie Gonzalez said: “We’re very appreciative of the support from the board. This has happened under Andrea [Gaudenzi] coming in as our new chairman in a very difficult year, so we appreciate that. This is a great move for ATP Tour events to be able to secure revenue in a new category.”

Notably, title sponsorships or presenting partnerships with sports betting or fantasy firms are still prohibited.
