The UK government has allowed re-opening of betting shops in UK’s tier 3 areas but has imposed few restrictions too.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirmed the news while stating the plans post nationwide lockdown. The lockdown is set to end on December 3.

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) of UK welcomed the decision of allowing the betting shops to re-open as they were subjected to closure being non-essential business operations.

BGC Chief Executive Michael Dugher said: “This is great news for our customers in communities across large parts of England and for the thousands of people employed in high street betting shops’, reported Gambling Insider.

Dugher  added, “On top of the stringent anti-Covid measures betting shops already adhere to, our members have agreed to further restrictions to limit any chance of Covid being transmitted in their premises. Casinos are best-in-class amongst the hospitality sector when it comes to anti-Covid measures. There is no evidence that they contribute to the spread of the virus”, reported Gambling Insider.
