China approves new legislation to curb overseas gambling

China has approved a new legislation wherein strict penalties have been prescribed for the people facilitating overseas gambling.

The code is likely to come into effect from March 1, 2021, where the people found guilty of inducing Chinese national s into gambling overseas could end up paying hefty fine.

The standing committee of the National People’s Congress by approving the legislation intends to amend the criminal code of the country and makes liable individuals as well as the firms.

In addition to fine, a maximum of ten years of imprisonment has also been prescribed in the code.

China has been very strict in curbing overseas gambling which drains nation’s wealth out the country. It has taken steps such as amending the law and installation of Big Data at the borders.

Few months ago, it had also blacklisted few foreign destinations which it suspected gambling destinations for Chinese nationals.
