Coimbatore police arrested 27 people from a farm house at Masthigoundenpathi for illegal gambling activities.
District superintendent of police Ara Arularasu said that he received specific information that certain people were playing cards by placing bets and using money. Therefore, he instructed Madukkarai police inspector Murugesan to form teams and raid the place.
During raid, police also arrested house owner, R Muthuvel, 40, of Masthangoundenpathi, for letting the people use his premises for gambling activities.
A total of 27 people were arrested and Rs. 2.3 Lakh were seized from the possession of the accused persons. Two deck of playing cards were also recovered from the location.
