Dutch Lottery, a state run service, has been allowed to maintain its monopoly in the Netherlands.

The Dutch gaming authority, de Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has been granted permission by the Dutch Administrate Jurisdiction Division.

The KSA will continue to grant state lottery monopoly licences.

The gambling companies such as Betfair and Dutch Online Gambling Association (NOGA) had appealed to the Division. However, the appeal was unsuccessful.

It was further stated that the KSA was not in breach of any regulations.

As per Gambling Insider report, in the Netherlands, there is a single permit system for organising lotteries. In this case, the licence for organising lotteries was issued to Dutch Lottery operator, Lotto BV, while other companies weren’t considered.

This led to the aforementioned companies appealing the fact the KSA can offer a licence to just one lottery, but still provide multiple licences to charities.
