PointsBet does not seem to stop aiming different and high despite the gloomy atmosphere of COVID-19 pandemic. After striking successful deals with NBC Universal, National Basketball Association, LaLiga North America and Major League Baseball’s Detroit Tigers, PointsBet has just entered into corporate sponsorship agreement with University of Colorado.

The global betting company has entered into 5 year corporate sponsorship agreement with The University of Colorado Boulder’s athletics department.

With sports wagering becoming legal in Colorado in May last year, the University of Colorado Boulder’s athletics department has agreed a five-year corporate sponsorship agreement with global betting company PointsBet.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association Division (NCAA) which otherwise historically has been averse to a deal between sports betting company and the college’s athletics department, has agreed to go for a first agreement with the sports betting company.

The CU University’s athletics department had been suffering from a financial crisis and had to suspend all of its major tournaments till January, 2021. All competitions including college football stood suspended till next year.

This is when the commercial partner of University of Colorado Athletics (CU Athletics), Learfield IMG College, decided to intervene and facilitated the deal between the two parties.

The agreement is not just restricted to college playing but extends to career prospects of students in sports beyond college. The detailed terms of the contract were, however, not disclosed.

According to Sports Business news, the agreement covers the entire gaming category, including free-to-play sports games, daily fantasy sports, casino, online casino, and retail and online sports betting. PointsBet is set to gain promotions and advertisement space at CU athletics making itself quite visible and prominent. PointsBet will alos receive space over radio broadcasts of CU games and other media channels.

CU athletic director Rick George said, “We’re thrilled to have PointsBet as a partner and for the benefits this sponsorship will provide for our student-athletes for years to come. We are impressed with their commitment to raising awareness around responsible gaming. And we’re particularly excited whenever we can partner with sponsors who call Colorado home”, reported Sports Business news.
