GamCare, a gambling harm prevention group has released a report on impact of gambling among youngsters.

GamCare, which also operates National Gambling Helpline, has revealed that 10 of the 353 young people involved in gambling belong to age group of less than 18 years.

The youth have been getting exposed to problem gambling majorly due to parental gambling. Moreover, the adults of young age fail to realize and recognize when the gambling has become harmful form them.

GamCare is an independent UK Charity which focusses on problem gambling prevention by sharing information, floating helpline and many other means. It also provides information to parents and training to teachers, youth and social workers through its BigDeal website.

As per Gambling Insider, Anna Hemmings, CEO of GamCare, said: “Since lockdown, we’ve not only heard stories from our helpline that reveal young people are increasingly experiencing more parental gambling but there is also rising concern for potential harms to young people who gamble themselves.”

“It’s been an extremely difficult year for young people, with many using the internet and social media not only to be in touch with friends, but also as a form of escapism.”
