Gurugram Crime branch arrested two persons identified as Narender Singh and Pool Chan from Ashok Vihar Phase-3 for betting on IPL match played between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Arrested persons are being reported as residents of Alwar district in Rajasthan.

The Police recovered 3 LED TVs, 1 mobile phone, a notebook and a pen from their possession.

Subhash Boken, spokesperson of the Gurugram police said, “Based on the specific input, the police raided the spot and nabbed the duo when they were placing bets on an IPL match. The police have registered a case under the Prevention of Gambling Act at the Sector-5 police station in Gurugram. Further investigation is on”, reported Daijiworld.

In another event in Prayagraj, Police nabbed 5 persons for betting on IPL 2020 matches and seized Rs 1 lakh in cash, a car, and six mobiles from the possession of the accuse.

Superintendent of Police, Dhaval Jaiswal, stated that the police conducted the operation on October, 16 based on specific information received about the racket.

Few of the arrested persons have a criminal history and efforts to arrest absconded accused persons is underway.

In Hyderabad, police arrested P Sai Prasad (25), Mohd Ziauddin (29) and Mohd Ismail (26) for receiving bets from punters on IPL 2020 matches.

The police seized Rs 54,000 and mobile phones from them and handed them over to the Chilkalguda police for further action.

In the second case, the Task Force (West) caught one D Ramana who was organising cricket betting at Ameerpet and handed him over to Punjagutta police for further action, reported Telangana Today.
