4 men were arrested in Karnataka for allegedly betting online on IPL 2020 cricket matches.

Police on receipt of information carried out raids at Puttenahalli, Konanakunte and Byatarayanapura police station limits and four people involved in it were arrested.

Police recovered nearly Rupees 5 Lakh from the spot and seized 6 mobile phones.

The alleged accused were using online applications such as Lotusbook, Cric365 day etc. to place bets online.

Bengaluru Joint Commissioner of Police, Sandeep Patil tweeted that, “three more cases of cricket betting detected by CCB during ongoing #IPL2020. Betting done through online apps”.

Notably, Central Crime Branch (CCB) had earlier this September nabbed another gambling racket that was wagering on IPL 2020 matches. In that incident, the CCB had arrested 6 people.

While IPL 2020 is being played in UAE, officials in India are having hard time tackling the betting in sports.

Several rounds of arrest relating to betting in IPL 2020 have made the headlines since the season began on September 19.
