After a long wait the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 finally took off on September 19 in UAE.

Within five days of start of the tournament the news about betting and gambling gangs has hit the news. This time it’s coming from Karnataka where police has arrested 6 people on accounting of betting in IPL matches and has recovered Rupees 6 Lakh.

It was stated by Central Crime Station that accused were arrested from Banaswadi and Malleswaram areas in the city and two cases have been registered against them.

The gamblers and bookies were accepting bets on the basis of each ball, over, runs and on the victory and defeat of teams in the league.

So far the names of the arrested persons have not been reported and news agencies are yet to receive further official statements from the police authorities.

Sandeep Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police stated that all six have been arrested.
