Meerut police, in a drive conducted to nab IPL betting gangs, bookies and punters, arrested two accused persons from Meerut city and registered case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.

The police also recovered Rupees 2 Lakh in cash, mobile phones and various other accessories.

The police are investigating the case further and expect to nab more gang members based upon interrogation.

Meerut ASP Iraj Raja said, “During a check-in drive by the surveillance team on Monday, two men were found placing online bets in the New Market area of Sadar. The team seized an amount of Rs 2.13 lakh, three mobile phones, two calculators and cricket exchange software, among others”, reported Times of India.

In Guwahati, Crime Branch of Assam Police, busted a betting racket who was allegedly involved in betting on IPL 2020 matches.

Partha Pratim Gogoi, Officer-in-Charge (OC) stated that, “We arrested two people in connection with the case,” reported Guwahati Plus.

Barun Purkayastha, DCP, Crime stated that further investigation is going on in the case.
