On October 27, 2020, Bangalore Police arrested 2 people from different locations for betting on IPL 2020 matches.

The City Crime Branch, Bangalore arrested a person (identity not known) and seized Rupees 13.5 Lakh from his possession.

In another incident, CCB nabbed another accused for allegedly placing bets in a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals.

Police recovered Rs. 30.5 Lakh from his possession.

2 mobile phones each were also seized from the possession of both the accused persons.

In Mumbai, police arrested 2 persons from Malad for placing bets on IPL 2020 match.

Crime Branch (unit X), Mumbai received a tip off and  the team led by Inspector Vinayak Ghorpade raided the hotel room and detained Mayur Chheda and Jatin Shah alias Chiku Malad, reported Indian Express.

Ghorpade stated that, “They paid for the login ID and password from a Rajasthan-based person. In turn they passed it on to several others for a fee. For the cricket mode it has options from placing bets on a match, five overs or even what will happen on a single ball.”

API Wahid Pathan stated that, “We are on the lookout for at least three other persons. We have also sent the app to the cyber police to find out who developed it”, reported Indian Express.

Correction: In an earlier report, the accused who were arrested in Goa are reported to be Shakti Punjabi, Vishal Ahuja and Hitesh Keshwani (as reported by Herald Goa). The Indian Wire stands corrected on errors in spelling names in the earlier report.
