It was reported that 12 gamblers in Dugri were arrested by Anti-smuggling cell of Ludhiana Police on September 29, 2020.
The police caught the gamblers off guard during the raid at Flower Chowk, Dugri, Phase III and seized Rs 4.07 Lakh from the spot. Playing cards were also recovered from the scene.
The Tribune (September 29, 2020) reported the names of alleged gamblers as Ashwani Kumar of Model Town Extension, Arun Kumar of Durga Puri, Haibowal, Harinder Singh Bhola of New Kidwai Nagar, Mahinder Kumar of New Janta Nagar, Sanjiv Gupta of Nanak Puri, Satpal of Janakpuri, Kanwalpreet Singh of Kidwai Nagar, Naveen Kumar of Haibowal, Umesh Kumar of Model Town, Navtej Singh of Flower Chowk, Harish Kumar of Bajwa Nagar and Manjit Singh Laddi of New Amar Nagar.
The team was lead by in-charge of anti-narcotic cell Yashpal Sharma who stated that police conducted raid on basis of information by an informant. The Police continue to make efforts to bust the entire gambling network by interrogating the accused persons.
