Malaysia: Resorts World Genting to operate under strict COVID-19 restrictions

The only legal casino of Malaysia, the casino complex Resorts World Genting (RWG) will operate under strict COVID-19 restrictions and precautions.

The casino announced that it will operate at reduced capacity and suspend certain operations temporarily after the Government imposed stricter COVID-19 restrictions this week.

The new regulations will continue to be in place till January 26, 2021and will affect five states and the federal territories, including the capital Kuala Lumpur where RWG is located.

Resorts World Genting which is owned and operated by Genting Malaysia Bhd. Will see the decline in the number of visitors.

As per Gambling Insider, Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said: “As I have said before, unprecedented situations call for unprecedented measures. With this announcement, we anticipate a decline in the number of visitors to Resorts World Genting.

“Hence, we will be operating at a lower capacity and some of our offerings may not be available from January 13. Some of our hotels, facilities, attractions and other offerings will be subjected to revised operating hours, limited availability or temporary closure.”

RWG was also previously shut from March till June.
