A 36 year old man, operating as SIM card retailer committed suicide after losing money in gambling.
According to New Indian Express Vijayakumar from Ellaiamman Koil street in Korkadu near Villianur had started playing online gambling games during lockdown period and soon grew addicted to it.
Initially, the deceased won certain amount of money but started losing huge sums after a while. As his addiction grew, the deceased started borrowing money from friends and relatives to feed his addiction.
However, the lenders started pressurizing for return of money which led Vijayakumar to end his life.
He had left a voice message for his wife that his body would be found near the bike and his cell phone on the bike’s tank. However, his body was recovered from the lake nearby.
The deceased had put a Whatsapp status requesting ban on online gambling soon before his death.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
