Marina Bay Sands has temporarily suspended operations from July 22 and will remain closed till August 5. The casino has been closed for deep cleaning and will re-open after compliance with revised guidelines.

The capacities will be revised and stricter measures will be enforced such as no more than two people per room, only take-out options available at restaurants, and only limited people allowed at stores and outlets.

Marina Bay Sands said in a statement: “In these unprecedented times, we continue to be vigilant on all fronts, working closely with the authorities to respond and adapt quickly to the situation.”

Singapore experienced spike in cases and imposed renewed health and safety restrictions until 18 August. The Sands Casino alone accounted for 11 of the COVID cases leading to temporary suspension of the operations.

The operator has developed a testing requirement for all the team members since then and has also made available free testing to all guests who visited the casino from 7 July to 21 July with the support of the government.

Another Singapore resort, Resorts World Sentosa is also affected due to pandemic but it is likely that it will remain operational with limited guest capacity.
