Capital city of Kenya, Nairobi is all set to impose new law, rules and regulations on the gaming and betting industry in the city.
The betting Act which is known as the Nairobi City County Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Bill 2020 might establish several rules and regulations with respect to licensing.
Additionally, the gamblers might be subjected to a tax of 20% on winnings of all gaming, betting and lotteries. This is going to be known as entertainment tax.
The Bill seeks to establish County Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Control Board to oversee the functioning of the industry.
Amount of fine for issuance and renewal of license has also been fixed with various fines and penalties for violation of the law. According to the proposed bill, penalties and fines of up to Sh1m (US$9,110) could be handed out.
