New Jersey state senate Budget and Appropriations Committee unanimously approved senate Concurrent Resolution 133, which clears a big hurdle for legalization of sports betting in colleges of New Jersey.

However, the resolution requires public hearing and needs to be voted upon before it can be added to the Bill.

It also requires senate approval as of now and finally public vote in November 2021 for finally attaining legality.

Currently, the state constitution prohibits sports wagering on any collegiate sport or athletic event held in New Jersey or in which a New Jersey college team participates.

If collegiate sports betting becomes legal in New Jersey, it could have a big impact on sports wagering and horse racing events.
