Koraput police arrested three youth for allegedly killing another youth in Pottangi area of Koraput district of Odisha.

The accused were identified Anil Kumar Padhi (24), Ajeet Khila (21) and Ganesh Raula (22), reported Sambad English.

According to reports, Ganga Prasad Choudhury alias Kuna of Gatesahi Pottangi was found dead in the backyard of a temple and an FIR was filed by the father of the deceased person.

On investigation, police learnt that the deceased had won Rs. 3 Lakh in gambling games and the person named Sunil Padhi had to pay the winning amount to the deceased.

Padhi’s father had taken a loan of Rs. 1.5 Lakh to repay the amount and was running under severe stress and deteriorating health conditions over the due amount.

The younger brother of Padhi, alleged accused in the case, Anil Padhi, hatched a plan to kill Kuna upon seeing his father in mental stress. For execution of the plan, he hired supari killers and agreed to pay them Rupees 17 lakh for the task.

During investigation, the accused Anil confessed to the crime and also revealed various details relating to the offence.

A case has been registered under Sections 120-B, 302, 379, 201 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.
