Ohio had launched COVID-19 Lottery Scheme to boost vaccination rates in the state.

However, the state has now been forced to cancel the scheme as it reported less than 50% vaccination rates. The scheme seemed to have failed in boosting the vaccination rates among the locals.

Ohio had reported spike in vaccination rates after the Scheme was launched in May. However, the incentive lost its momentum gradullay and failed to improve the vaccination rates.

Ohio is not the only state which decided to use Lottery Scheme to incentivize vaccination, other jurisdictions such as North Carolina and Italy also used this method.

The $1m lottery scheme in North Carolina improved the tally of vaccines from 54% to 55%.

As per Gambling Insider, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said: “We’re hoping over the next few days and few weeks we will see some significant improvement in our numbers. We’re trying to find everything we can, even keeping steady would be a positive thing.”
