One dead, one critical after attempt to commit suicide over IPL betting losses

In an unfortunate incident in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, 2 youth tried to end their lives after they lost money in IPL betting.

However, police denied confirming the involvement of the youth in IPL 2020 betting.

Bangalore Mirror reported that Oora Suresh (22) and his cousin Komaraiah (21) had borrowed money from various sources and spent it on IPL 2020 betting.

However, the duo lost Rupees 80,000 and was under extreme pressure to repay nearly Rs. 1 Lakh.

They decided to end their lives and consumed the poison. They did not hold anyone responsible for their death in the suicide video they sent to their relatives.

While Suresh died, Komaraiah is severely critical.

Medikonduru police inspector Anand Rao told Bangalore Mirror, “Our enquiries with their relatives did not establish the talk that they lost money in cricket bettings. They might have borrowed for other purposes. We are still in the process of ascertaining the reason.”
