The gambling and betting was legalized in the state of Connecticut in May after the governor had signed the arrangement into the law.
Now, in a move to implement the law the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection has issued provisional licenses to Daily fantasy sports sites in the state.
The green signal to the daily fantasy websites and contests implies that they can remain and operate in Connecticut until September.
As per Gambling.com, Michelle Seagull, the state’s Consumer Protection Commissioner said: “We are proud to have been able to approve these provisional licenses, a process designed to protect consumers and create a fair marketplace, so that these businesses may legally operate fantasy contests in Connecticut. We look forward to continued work with both tribes and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation.”
Gov. Ned Lamont announced the same recently and added: “This short-term step allows for the continuation of fantasy sports in Connecticut as we continue to move forward to modernize our gaming landscape in Connecticut. Thanks to our partnership with the Mohegan Tribe, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe, and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation, our state will have a competitive, and nation-leading model for wagering both in-person and online.”
As a result of the approval various operators such as to MPTN CT Fantasy, MGA Technology DFS and Connecticut Lottery Corporation would be able offer online gaming, sports wagering, retail sports wagering, and online daily fantasy contests.
