A lawsuit alleging violation of patents has been filed by Engine Media Holdings against DraftKings seeking recovery of damage and other appropriate reliefs.

Engine Media’s subsidiary Winview has alleged that it owns United States Patent No. 9,878,243 and No. 10,721,543, which have been violated by DraftKings, allegedly.

The action for the same has been initiated in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, represented by by Morgan Chu of Irell & Manella  and Thomas R. Curtin of McElroy, Deutsch, Mulvaney & Carpenter.

As per Gambling Insider, Tom Rogers, Executive Chairman of Engine Media, said: “Winview is an important operating unit of Engine Media, providing cash games of skill as part of the viewing experience of both traditional sports and esports.

“In addition, Winview has a growing portfolio of 80 issued United States patents, many of which relate to mobile sports betting and online gaming technologies. We will continue assessing how we can protect our intellectual property.”

The patents involve use of technology to improve latency for games during live events and another patent involves the distribution of entertainment that is linked to live events.
