Head of Ministry of Production, Peru, Jose Luis Chicoma announced that casinos have been allowed to re-open at 40% capacity.

The govt. gave green light to the casinos after it finalized its Phase 4 of the Economic Recovery plan and is also a part of National Health Emergency due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from 750 authorized gambling halls, theatres, shopping centres and gyms have also been allowed re-opening at 40% capacity.

Workers had earlier protested against the continued lock down.

According to report by Gambling Insider, Chicoma said: “In joint work with the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the companies of movie theatres and gymnasiums, we have developed the operating protocols for these activities, in order to care for and preserve the health and life of people avoiding the spread of COVID-19.”

He added, “We have complied with the gradualness and responsibility of opening up economic activity by prioritizing the recommendations of the Minsa, but giving the opportunity to companies and their workers to benefit from the greater demand for goods and services associated with the Christmas holidays.”
