With the intent to gain entry into the U.S. horse racing betting market, operator PointsBet, is set to acquire Premier Turf Club.

Premier Turf Club is an Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) company which is licensed by the Oregon Racing Commission.

With the presence of two companies in the horse racing betting market, the addition of PointsBet offers a new variety into the market. The already present companies in the market are TwinSpires, which is owned by Churchill Downs and and FanDuel, a member of the BetFair and Flutter Entertainment.

As per Gambling.com, PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken said: “PointsBet is very pleased to join forces with Premier Turf Club. The combination of Premier Turf Club’s excellence in the space with PointsBet’s mature market Australian racing expertise favorably positions us as we prepare to enter the U.S. horse racing market. Today’s noteworthy acquisition complements our in-house approach while growing our premier product suite, and we are excited to welcome Premier Turf Club to the PointsBet team.”

The announcement of the agreement is timed with the upcoming races such as the second Triple Crown race, the Preakness Stakes, on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore.
