Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy wrote a letter to Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad seeking ban on online gambling.

The CM requested the Law Minister to impose ban on online gambling drawing parallel to Blue Whale Challenge Game, where people had taken their life.

The CM explained in the letter, that a man in Puducherry committed suicide over his gambling addiction after he lost more than Rupees 25 Lakh on an online gambling mobile application.

The deceased had left a voice message for his wife stating that he has failed to pay back the lenders the money he borrowed for gambling.

He had also put a Whatsapp status urging concerned authorities to ban online gambling just before taking his life.

CM Narayanasamy called gambling the destroyer of families where people were left homeless and their lives destroyed.

Moved by this incident, PMK leader Ramadoss from Tamil Nadu had also a written a similar letter urging centre and all the states to completely ban online gambling.

The DMK Dharmapuri MP Senthilkumar also wrote to Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad seeking a ban. He said, “Youth has no idea about the safety of the websites they access, as there are several fake websites for rummy. When the youth pay cash through debit or credit card, their cards also get blocked”, reported The News Minute.
