Slovakia launches vaccination lottery to boost vaccination drive

After multiple states and countries launching vaccination lotteries to boost vaccination drive, Slovakia has boarded the wagon.

Slovakia has announced the commencement of vaccination lottery from August 1, 2021 offering a chance to win the lottery on taking up vaccine.

The registrations will remain open until 15 October, 2021 as everyone is required to register if they wish to participate in the process. The persons above age group of 18 years are eligible to take part in the lottery scheme and they should be permanent residents to Slovakia.

Though the amount of stake has not been revealed or made clear, the Finance Minister Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) has said, “the prizes will be interesting, but we’ll publish them only shortly before the launch.”

Those who have been already vaccinated or will get vaccinated in future will be considered for the prizes. Additionally, a bonus prize has been announced for ‘mediators’ or ‘persuaders’ who would encourage others to get jabbed. A specific code will be provided to such mediators which will be used by individuals while they register themselves for the vaccination lottery. Notably, a fully vaccinated person, has higher chance of doubling their win given the scenario. A database of all the registered persons shall be maintained.
