The only casino of South Korea that allows locals to gamble, the Kangwon Land, has re-opened after two months of closure.

However, following COVID-19 guidelines, the operator would restrict the operation capacity to 1,200 people.

It was locked down since February 23, 2020 till July 2020, then again from August to October. The latest lock down was effective from December 8, post which, the operator has announced of its opening from February 14, 2021.

Kangwon Land had to place approximately half its 3,700 employees on mandatory leave without pay. However, the company agreed to provide ‘urgent livelihood support’ to the employees.

The operator’s casino will run for 20 hours a day and will run the gaming floors with 180 gaming tables, 169 slot machines and 1,191 other electronic games.
