The Committee for the Inquest of Prosecution, which is an inquest body has decided that the Tokyo High Public Prosecutors Office’s chief, Mr. Hiromu Kurokawa would be re-investigated over gambling charges.

Earlier the inquest body had refused to investigate him on same charges. Kurokawa, 63, had stepped down from his position following the allegations. However, he was not indicted.

Now, he will be reinvestigated over his alleged involvement in illegal gambling activity.

According to Gambling Insider, “the gambling had reportedly taken place with news reporters from Sankei Shimbun and The Asahi Shimbun in April and May, at a time when the country was under a state of emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic”.
